MILWAUKEE -
Members of the Marquette women's basketball along with director of basketball operations Angie Lewis spent some time Thursday afternoon at Edward A. MacDowell School in Milwaukee speaking to fifth through eighth grade students who are also members of the school's basketball team.
"It is so great that we get to come out here and spend time with these young girls," said Lewis who coordinated the visit at MacDowell School. "Every year we look forward to these visits. It is a great way to give back to the community, and see our student-athletes as role models to these girls."
While at MacDowell School, Pachko, the Golden Eagles spoke about the importance of excellence in academics as well as in athletics, having goals, hard work and what it takes to be a student-athlete. Each Marquette student-athlete paired with a MacDowell student-athlete and worked with her on ball handling, form shooting, lay-ups and dribbling.
Following the skills session, the MacDowell students had the opportunity to ask the Marquette student-athletes questions about their lives as student-athletes and their goals for the future.
The Golden Eagles visited the MacDowell School in conjunction with their on-going work with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee.
