MILWAUKEE - After a pair of BIG EAST Conference road wins at Villanova and Georgetown, sophomore defender Ally Miller was tabbed the conference's Defensive Player of the Week and junior goalkeeper Natalie Kulla was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll announced by league officials Monday afternoon.
Miller earns the first Defensive Player of the Week honors of her career after aiding the Marquette defense to a 2-0-0 record last week. The sophomore played an integral role in the Golden Eagles' defensive scheme that allowed just one goal in two games. Miller marked two of the BIG EAST's most dangerous offensive players in Villanova's Katie Ryan and Georgetown's Ingrid Wells, and limited them to a combined one shot in the games.
Miller's Defensive Player of the Week honor marks the second consecutive week a Golden Eagle has claimed the weekly award.
Kulla posted a season-high six saves in both games, and earned her first shutout in BIG EAST play in the 3-0 win at Villanova. The shutout was her fourth of the season, 26th of her career.
Marquette will close out its five-game BIG EAST road trip at Connecticut Friday, Oct. 8 at 5 p.m. ET/4 p.m. CT, and at Providence, Sunday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m. ET/Noon CT.
