Marquette legend Hank Raymonds, a successful coach and administrator at the University, passed away early Monday morning after a long and courageous battle with cancer. In over 25 years at Marquette, Hank Raymonds served as the program's 10th head men's basketball coach, athletic director and assistant coach under Al McGuire and Eddie Hickey. | Crossville: I went to Marquette from 1964 - 1969. Hank was the freshmen BB coach when I met him. Great man and represented MU very professionally. He will be missed | ||

| Tom Neuschaefer, '68: Prayers and thoughts are with you. Have admired Hank over the years as he has been truly a wonderful man and a great ambassador for Marquette. Had the good fortune to meet and talk with Hank at many MU functions over the decades. His passing is a loss for all. | ||

I had seen him a few times up close at Marquette events, and asked for his autograph at one in about 1999, and he very graciously gave it to me. The world misses wonderfrul people like this. I think Hank was a man who really embodied the Marquette ideal of Cura Personalis. He genuinely cared about everyone and was a "do the right thing because it's the right thing to do" kind of man. | Tom Burke, Park Ridge: I had the privilege of taking the ???Theory of Coaching Basketball??? course taught by Coach Raymonds as well as working in the old gym during my time at Marquette. He was one of the best people I have encountered in my life. My thoughts & prayers go out to his family. | ||

His example has taught me the value of the young people???s lives we are put in charge with and following through with our commitment to make them the best people and athletes we can. His love for Marquette and ALL of its athletes came front and center at his retirement when he returned the $10,000.00 gift Marquette presented him to start a scholarship fund for the non-revenue sports. Hank always made me and my program feel important, I will miss him. | ||

| Tom Thillen, Memphis, TN: I was in the third grade when Coach Raymonds coached by peewee baseball team. Later Coach stood with me when I was confirmed at Holy Rosary. My dad was a sports writer at the Memphis paper and covered coach when he was at CBC. My dad had a lot of respect for him as a coach and as a person and so did I. He was a good man and will be missed | ||
