Head Coach Terri Mitchell
About the game overall...
"I loved how hard our players played overall. It is very tough to end a season this way, but we had so much character to push it into overtime, you could see how bad our players wanted it. In overtime, they took control and we were playing catch up. We still had the opportunity with the ball in our hands. We ran a play and took the best shot that we thought we could get. That went out of bounds, and still had one more opportunity."
"Jenna Smith was amazing tonight. We kept the other players in control tonight, and we had very balanced scoring. What I told the returners is that we have to take it up a level because I believe that the players I am looking at are tournament team caliber. We have to build upon what we learned this season, what we learned in the BIG EAST, what we learned in the WNIT and be ready to go next season."
About the play of Tatiyiana McMorris...
"We ran that play near the end of overtime with total confidence that she was going to hit it. My only regret is not getting her more looks, but they really keyed on her and were in her face. When we set good screens and were able to shake her loose, she caught and shot. It's those kind of games that we are going to build upon with the returners that they are going to remember. We are going to get better and we will keep building."
About Sarina Simmons' double-double...
"Sarina is not a freshman any more. She ends her freshman season with a double-double. When she focuses on defense, she is always better on the offensive end. She grabbed the rebounds and was aggressive tonight. She is the type of players we need to run more plays for and give her more touches. She has a lot to reflect on this season and the experience she gained will help her tremendously next season."
