The intensity and passion of Championship Friday was contagious at the Al McGuire Center as Session III Day camp wrapped up, marking the end of the 2010 campaign.
While the competition between participants was easy to identify, rivalries between coaches heated up as tournament play began. Former MU dunk master Trend Blackledge had his coaching methods questioned in his team's upset win over USF, but mind games couldn't slow his Seton Hall squad.
While Butler (NCAA) and Los Angeles (NBA) were able to claim both regular season and tournament victories in their respective divisions, both Argentina (Olympic) and USF (BIG EAST) were upset as the top seeds. Rutgers, which finished second in the regular season, claimed a tourney victory in the NCAA's and Greece did the same among the Olympic competitors.
Several individual awards were also presented by MU head coach Buzz Williams at the closing ceremonies, including most valuable player. Tre Valeriano (Argentina), Taylor Candy (Butler), DeAndre Johns (Rutgers) and Mitchell Sutton (Los Angeles) were all tabbed the top performer in their respective division.
