? No. 6 (Associated Press) West Virginia is the highest ranked opponent in the AP poll Marquette has defeated in program history. The Golden Eagles defeated No. 4 (ESPN/USA Today) Notre Dame on Jan. 13, 2009.
?Marquette moves to 22-45 against teams in the top-25 under head coach Terri Mitchell. MU is 3-2 this season against the top 25.
? Marquette is 4-2 all-time against West Virginia, 3-0, when playing at the Al McGuire Center.
? Marquette is 44-40 all-time in BIG EAST Conference play.
? MU's win over No 6/7 West Virginia tonight and No. 15/14 Georgetown on Jan. 8 marks the first time in program history Marquette has defeated back-to-back nationally ranked opponents.
? Sarina Simmons' jumper with 14:02 left to play sparked MU's 11-0 run to take a nine point lead, 50-41, with 11:00 remaining in the game. WVU cut its deficit to five points (50-45) with 8:38 to play, but that is the closest it would come.
? Simmons finished the game with 14 points, with 12 of those coming in the second half. Her 14 points marked the first time since MU's win over La. Tech (Dec. 30) she has scored in double figures.
? Marquette's 69 points marks the most the Mountaineers have given up all season. WVU entered the game holding its opponents to 46.3 points per game.
? Angel Robinson finished the game with a game-high 18 points. Eleven of her points came from the charity stripe, which also matches a career high. Robinson also contributed six assists and three steals in 39 minutes of action.
? Tatiyiana McMorris pushed her double-figure scoring streak to six games with 12 points.
?MU's opened BIG EAST play against the league's preseason top four selections and finished 2-2. The Golden Eagles play at USF on Sunday, Jan. 16.
