MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's basketball team takes to the road for its next BIG EAST game at USF on Sunday, Jan. 16. The 3:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. CT tip-off at the Sun Dome will be broadcast live on ESPNU with Anne Marie Anderson (play-by-by) and Kayte Christensen (analyst) on the call.
The Golden Eagles (14-3, 2-2 BIG EAST) are coming off a pair of wins over nationally ranked top-15 teams in then No. 15/14 Georgetown (75-73 in double overtime) on Jan. 8 and No. 6/7 West Virginia (69-54) on Jan. 11. USF will be the first unranked opponent Marquette will take on since it faced La. Tech in the Sun and Fun Classic title game.
Marquette has had at least four players score in double figures in each of the two wins over the Hoyas and Mountaineers. The Golden Eagles currently boast three players who averaging 10-or-more points per game and three others who average over eight points per game.
USF (9-9, 0-4 BIG EAST) enters the game with Marquette on a five-game skid with four of the five losses coming away from the Sun Dome. Andrea Smith leads the Bulls with 16.5 points per game.
The long-time foes will meet for the 19th time with the Golden Eagles holding the series advantage, 16-2. Marquette is 5-2 since the two teams joined the BIG EAST for the 2005-06 season. Marquette has won the last three games against the Bulls. Historically, Angel Robinson has had little trouble scoring on the Bulls as she averages a team-high 19.0 points over five career games, including a 30-point performance in Marquette's last trip to Tampa on Feb. 3, 2009.
