MILWAUKEE - For the second consecutive week, Marquette University junior middle hitter Danielle Carlson was named to the BIG EAST Conference Women's Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced Monday.
Carlson hit .508 in three contests, while recording just three errors and helping Marquette to its first 3-0 start to BIG EAST play in program history. She led MU with 13 kills against both Sacred Heart and St. John's, while hitting .545 and .571, respectively, in those matches.
The Marshfield, Wis., native leads the BIG EAST and is 10th in NCAA Division I with a hitting percentage of .412 (189 kills, 32 errors, 381 total attacks). Carlson is hitting .531 through three conference matches.
The Golden Eagles downed reigning Northeast Conference champion Sacred Heart, 3-1, on Thursday evening to end the Pioneers' 22-match home winning streak and picked up 3-1 and 3-0 victories at league foes Connecticut and St. John's, respectively.
Marquette stands 13-4 on the season and has won 10 of its last 11 matches.
The Golden Eagles return to action Friday at the Al McGuire Center against Georgetown at 7 p.m., followed by Villanova Sunday at 2 p.m.
