?Marquette improves to 23-7, the second-most victories in a season in program history (26 in 2007). MU is now 3-5 in BIG EAST Tournament play. Two of the victories have come over Pittsburgh - the first was in 2007, when the Golden Eagles then lost to Rutgers in the semifinals. MU will face the Scarlet Knights on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT in this year's quarterfinals.
? MU has not lost back-to-back games this season.
?It was the second four-point win over Pitt this season after a 74-70 overtime decision on the road on Jan. 29. Tatiyiana McMorris sent that game to OT by banking in a last-second 3-pointer. She had six assists in both games versus the Panthers.
?Marquette has had eight games this season decided by five-or-fewer points and is 6-2 in those games.
? MU jumped out to a 14-4 lead, but Pitt outscored the Golden Eagles 26-9 the rest of the half to take a 30-23 lead at intermission. MU was just 7-22 (31.8 percent) from the floor in the first half, but was 18-28 (64.3 percent) in the second half to finish 25-50, its best in BIG EAST Tournament play.
? At the break MU had just two assists and 12 turnovers, but bounced back with 14 assists and just two turnovers in the second half.
? McMorris left the game after a hard foul with 14:27 to play, and Angel Robinson picked up her fourth foul just 17 seconds later. But Courtney Weibel hit 3 3-pointers in the second half - the last putting MU up for good at 56-53.
? McMorris and Robinson both returned to make key lay-ups, and Robinson added a pass to Jasmine Collins for the game-clinching basket with 15 seconds left.
?Collins scored 10 points versus Pittsburgh for the second time this season and she and Weibel combined for 19 off the bench. Collins has scored in double figures in six of the last seven games.
