Volleyball Falls to Wisconsin-Milwaukee 2-1

MILWAUKEE - Despite 16 kills from junior outside hitter Ashley Beyer, the Marquette University women's volleyball team fell, 2-1, to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Thursday evening at the Al McGuire Center.
The Panthers took the first set 25-22 before the Golden Eagles pulled out the second in dominating fashion, 25-10. Marquette hit .565 as a team in the second frame with 13 kills and no errors on 23 total attacks. Milwaukee took the third and final set, 19-17, after rebounding from an early deficit.
Beyer led all players with 16 kills on the evening, while classmate Ciara Jones added seven. Freshman libero Julie Jeziorowski also added a match-high 11 digs for the Golden Eagles.
Milwaukee junior setter Samantha Trawitzke led the Panthers with a double-double of 22 assists and 10 digs, while Elizabeth Egerer had nine kills.
The match was Marquette's first of two home contests during the spring season, which will conclude Thursday, April 14 against Northwestern at the Al McGuire Center. The contest is open the the public and free to attend and is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
