Kelsey Mattai Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

MILWAUKEE - Senior middle hitter Kelsey Mattai was named to the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll for women's volleyball Monday afternoon after helping Marquette to a pair of victories over the weekend against Pittsburgh and USF.
The Lake Elmo, Minn., native began the weekend by notching a career-high 12 kills on 14 error-free swings against Pittsburgh on Friday evening. She added five blocks in the contest while hitting a remarkable .857.
Mattai closed the weekend with six kills and seven blocks in MU's five-set victory over USF on Sunday afternoon.
It is the first career conference honor for Mattai, who hit a combined .607 against the Panthers and Bulls to help Marquette remain the lone undefeated team in conference play at 5-0.
Marquette (14-3, 5-0 BIG EAST) returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. against Western Michigan at the Al McGuire Center before heading to New Jersey to face Seton Hall and Rutgers on Saturday, Oct. 13 and Sunday, Oct. 14.
