MU Begins BIG EAST Conference Championship Play Friday Against Cincinnati

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's basketball team makes its seventh appearance in the BIG EAST Conference Championship Presented by American Eagle Outfitters at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn., March 2-6.
The Marquette University women's basketball team has earned the No. 14 seed and will play No. 11 seed Cincinnati on March 2 at 8 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. CT
The Golden Eagles' first round game can be seen live on the BIG EAST's website through the conference's official streaming video platform, BIGEAST.tv. A live audio stream will also be available on GoMarquette.com with Kyle Dlabay on the call.
Marquette's (13-16, 4-12 BIG EAST) meeting with the Bearcats (15-14, 6-10 BIG EAST) will mark the third time the two teams will play each other this season. Cincinnati took both regular-season contests, 62-54 at the Al McGuire Center and 60-46 at Fifth Third Arena.
The winner of the Marquette versus Cincinnati first round game will face No. 6 seed Rutgers in the second round on March 3 at 8 p.m.ET/7 p.m. CT. The game will be televised regionally on the BIG EAST Network and locally in Milwaukee on Sports32.
Marquette is 3-6 all-time in the BIG EAST Conference Championship, and went 1-1 in the league tournament in 2011, defeating No. 12 seed Pittsburgh, 65-61, before losing to No. 4 seed Rutgers, 68-62, in the quarterfinals. Marquette advanced as far as the semifinals in 2007 where it fell to No. 2 seed and eventual champion Rutgers, 63-55.
