The Marquette University men's basketball program has added Arizona State transfer Trent Lockett to the roster for the 2012-13 campaign, head coach Buzz Williams announced Monday afternoon.
Lockett, a 6-5, 210-pounder, will arrive on campus this summer and has one season of playing eligibility remaining.
"We are really excited to have Trent join our program," Williams said. "Even though his situation is unique, he will be a perfect fit for us on and off the floor. I have genuinely enjoyed getting to know Trent and his family over the last several weeks and I have great belief that he will finish his career here on a high note."
A three-year letterwinner for the Sun Devils, Lockett was named to the league's all-freshmen team in 2009-10 and was a second team all-conference honoree as a sophomore in 2010-11. He started in each of his 25 appearances in 2011-12, posting game averages of 13.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per outing. He shot 49.8 percent from the floor and 41.2 percent from behind the 3-point line.
For his career, Lockett appeared in 87 games and earned 69 starting assignments. He contributed 10.8 points and 4.7 boards per game while shooting 50.3 percent from the floor in an average of 27.7 minutes per night.
The Golden Valley, Minn., native is a graduate of Hopkins High School and was a consensus top-100 prospect as a senior. He helped lead the school to a perfect 31-0 season and the 4A state championship in 2008-09.
Lockett, who was a two-time (2010-11 and 2011-12) member of the First Team Pac-12 All-Academic squad, recently earned his bachelor's degree in business communication and will enroll in graduate school at Marquette. He was also a Capital One Academic All-District 8 selection this past season.
