MU Moves Up Leaderboard Behind Sanchez's 68

Update: March 3, 2014 -- Pat Sanchez carded a second-round 68 and Marquette moved up to 13th place. Sanchez is tied for 15th heading into Tuesday's final round.

DADE CITY, FLA. ----The Marquette men's golf team opened up their spring season at the USF Invitational Sunday battling a tough course and experienced field. Junior Brandon Cloete paced MU in the first round shooting a 1-under par 71.

Cloete sits in T25 while fellow teammate Patrick Sanchez also put in a solid opening round 1-over par 73 which was good enough to put him in the top 50.

Florida State and UNCG currently lead the entire field after day one with a team score of 275. Marquette landed in 17th place after shooting a team score of 295.

The second round tees of tomorrow morning at Lake Jovita Country Club with another 18 holes. The third and final round will conclude on Tuesday.
