NEW YORK -- Marquette University junior defender Elizabeth Goslee picks up her second straight weekly accolade as she was named BIG EAST Conference Defensive Player of the Week following an 8-7 win at Cincinnati, the league office announce Tuesday, April 28.
Goslee, who made the weekly honor roll a week ago, anchored a stifling defensive unit that held the Bearcats to just seven goals in the team's season-ending victory on the road. The Cincinnati native finished the game with three caused turnovers, two ground balls and a draw control in the come-from-behind win. Marquette had trailed 4-3 entering the second half and, thanks to a big defensive stand, outscored the Bearcats 5-3 in the final 30 minutes for the win.
Goslee finished the year as the team-leader in ground balls (30) and caused turnovers (30). She set career-highs in the latter, as well as with a +15 improvement in draw controls (16) thisseason. Goslee will lead a talented veteran squad in 2016 that lookspoised to return a host of key contributors.
