MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's volleyball team wrapped up its spring play after finishing 3-0 in a round-robin at Milwaukee on Saturday, April 25.
"It was great to end the spring season with some good competition and some wins," said head coach Ryan Theis. "We saw a ton of improvement in a lot of players this spring."
The Golden Eagles swept both Milwaukee (25-18, 25-23, 15-12) and Northwestern (25-19, 25-21, 15-12) at the Klotsche Center. It was the second time MU topped Northwestern this spring.
In the final match of the day, Marquette defeated Northern Iowa 2-1 (23-25, 25-18, 17-15) to conclude its preparation for the 2015 regular season.
"In our last event, which was roughly eight full games against good competition, we hit over .300 in transition which was a point of emphasis this spring," said Theis. "We also were less than 15% attack error, which is a good number."
The Golden Eagles finished with a spring record of 8-3.
"We didn't play great all day, but after six weeks we are very pleased with the progress and the overall play," said Theis.
