STANFORD, California - Freshman Oliver Farrell's opening round 70 tied for 19th place and led Marquette in Thursday's action at The Goodwin, hosted by Stanford University at Stanford G.C.

The Golden Eagles sit 24th with a combined 301 on the par 70, 6,727-yard course. UC Davis carded an opening round 277 to lead the 26-team event.

OPENING ROUND QUICK HITS

Farrell logged his first round at even par or better in his last six rounds, dating back to the finale of the Price's Give `Em Five Invitational in October.
Farrell opened his day 2-over-par on the first three holes before reeling off four birdies over the next 13 to drop back to 2-under-par. He bogeyed 17 and 18.
After a slow start on the front nine off hole No. 1, Marquette improved and played 5-over-par as a team on the back nine, combining for 10 birdie makes.
Average first round score - 73.88.
