SCOTTSDALE, Arizona - Marquette improved three spots from round one to round two and sits in eighth place (295-297-590) after 54 holes at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Michigan.
Senior Nick Nelson is tied for 23rd at 1-over-par for the tournament, shooting a 1-over-par 73 in the opening round and an even par 72 in the second.
After an opening round 295, MU's second round team score of 297 was sixth-best in the 12-team field, pushing the Golden Eagles back up the leaderboard.
Marquette tied for a tournament-best three eagles in the first 54 holes - freshman Oliver Farrell produced two of the three, including an eagle on his second hole of the event on the par-5 13th during the first round.
Host Michigan leads the tournament at 14-under-par (278-284-562) through 54 holes - five of the nation's top 50 team are in the event.
MU's tee times for the final 18 holes will begin at 10:15 a.m. Central time on Sunday.
