Final Results
SCOTTSDALE, Arizona - Marquette senior Nick Nelson matched the third-lowest single round in program history by shooting a final round 65 (7-under-par) to finish tied for third (6-under-par, 73-72-65--210) at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Michigan.
MU finished ninth with a team score of 886 (295-297-294, 22-over-par) in its first 54-hole event of the spring season.
NELSON'S BIG DAY
- Nick Nelson became one of seven players in program history to shoot 7-under-par or better in a round.
- His score of 65 is the lowest for a BIG EAST player in 2015-16.
- He birdied five of the first eight holes in his final round, and finished with seven birdies and no bogies; seven of his 13 birdies in the 54-hole event came on the final day.
- Nelson's best scoring came on par-5 holes, where he led the field with a 7-under-par score; he was 3-under-par for the tournament on par-4 holes.
- Nelson jumped 20 spots on the leaderboard in the tournament's final day to finish tied for third.
MARQUETTE NOTES
- Freshman Oliver Farrell posted a pair of eagles on the first day - he was tied as the event leader in eagles made; Farrell finished 54th at 228 (74-74-80).
TOURNAMENT NOTES
- Five top-50 teams participated in the event, led by winner No. 34 Texas A&M (847).
