Basketball Tops Milwaukee in Hurricane Relief Exhibition Game

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's basketball team took University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in a 78-63 exhibition win. The cross-city matchup raised over $30,000 in support of hurricane relief efforts on Sunday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center.
The Golden Eagles were efficient on offense as they totaled 29 assists on 42 made-baskets and committed just five turnovers. Defensively, they held UWM to 25 percent from the three-point line, while shooting 44 percent from distance.
Sophomore Sam Hauser led the way with 27 points and 10 rebounds, including 5-9 from three-point range, followed by redshirt senior Andrew Rowsey with 12 points and 10 assists. Sophomore Markus Howard connected on 3-6 from distance to finish with 13 points.
Newcomers Theo John, Jamal Cain and Greg Elliott each got on the boards and added a collective 15 points for The Golden Eagles.
The Panthers were led by Brett Prahl with 15 points on 5-6 shooting.
The Golden Eagles were held scoreless in the first five minutes of the game until Howard dropped a three.
The team had a 35-30 advantage at halftime after shooting 39 percent from the field.
Marquette will host Lindenwood at the BMO Bradley Harris Center at 1 p.m. Central time on Saturday, Nov. 4 for their final exhibition game.
