Marquette sophomore Oliver Farrell was named a BIG EAST Men's Golf First Team All-Conference selection, while freshman Matt Murlick earned second team honors in the league's postseason awards, announced on Friday.
For Farrell (Worcestershire, England), this is his second career All-BIG EAST selection - he was a second team pick in his freshman season in 2015-16. A four-time BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week, Farrell finished the regular season second in the conference in scoring average at 72.03 (0.57 vs. par). He was one of three BIG EAST players to log 30 rounds, posting a par or better score in 15. Farrell was Marquette's top finishing player in eight of 11 events, and finished with sub-par total scores in three, including his season-low 210 (6-under-par) at the Hawkeye Invitational April 15-16.
Murlick (Winnetka, Ill.) enters the BIG EAST Championships second on the team with a 74.07 average (2.60 vs. par) and 11th in the conference in scoring. Like Farrell, Murlick also played in all 30 Marquette rounds, carding par or better scores in eight. His best event of the year was the Marquette Intercollegiate at Milwaukee C.C. - Murlick finished tied for fifth with a 1-under-par 209, lifted by his second round 69 and final round 67.
Marquette opens BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship play at Callawassie Island G.C. on Sunday.
