Black Elected to IWLCA Board of Directors

MILWAUKEE - Marquette University head coach Meredith Black has been elected to a three-year term on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Board of Directors, it was announced last week.

"The IWLCA board is very important to the sport at the collegiate level and I'm very excited to be a voice and an ear for everyone," said Black, who just completed her fifth season at Marquette. "As a board, it is up to us to come up with the best strategies for the growth of the sport. We recommend rule changes, raise money for the sport, and drive the recruiting game and the rules.

"I look forward to having the opportunity to fully understand the ins and outs of our sport at this level and help be a part of any changes and the progress that we make."

Black is one of three Division I representatives on the board that filled six total vacancies for the current term, which began on July 1. Kathy Taylor, the head coach at Le Moyne College, is the newly-elected president on the board, succeeding IWLCA Past President Alicia Groveston of Grand Valley State University.

"I am extremely excited to usher in a new President for our organization as we move towards a more divisionally-balanced board of directors structure," said Groveston in an official release by IWLCA.org. "The new board members are a mix of coaches with amazing experience and diverse backgrounds from all parts of the country. I have no doubt they will continue to work for the benefit of our membership and with the mission and values of our organization in mind."

Black, who has prior experience as a board member, completed a one-year commitment two years ago.
