Marquette Hosts DePaul on Saturday

MILWAUKEE -- The Marquette University women's volleyball team hosts league travel partner, DePaul on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. Central time in its fifth BIG EAST match of the season.

Saturday's match against DePaul will be produced by the Marquette Wire and can be streamed for free on College Sports Live or viewed through the College Sports Live app, available for iOS through the App Store or for Android devices on Google Play
The Golden Eagles (10-5, 4-0) have won their last five matches, most recently, beating Xavier in four sets on the road. This leaves Marquette undefeated in the BIG EAST Conference. Allie Barber and Lauren Speckman continue to lead the BIG EAST in kills and assists, respectively. Speckman is currently ranked fourth in the nation for assists per set with 12.10. Allie Barber is 17th for kills per set with 4.56. Jenna Rosenthal was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and currently ranks fifth in the league with 1.11 blocks and 15th with 2.76 kills per set.
The Blue Demons (7-9, 1-3) have been bested in three sets in their last two matches, most recently losing at Butler. Claire Anderson and Brittany Maxwell both tallied double-doubles against Butler. Kelsey Horvath leads the Blue Demons with 8.12 assist/set on the season. DePaul's last win came on Sept. 22 at home against St. John's in five sets.
Marquette and DePaul are tied in their all-time series 29-29 with the Golden Eagles taking the Blue Demons in both of their matches last season.
Rosenthal Honored
Marquette University volleyball's redshirt junior Jenna Rosenthal is BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning. The Golden Eagles went 3-0 in the first stretch of conference play, sweeping Butler, Seton Hall and St. John's. Rosenthal racked up 3.67 kills per set over the week while hitting a whopping .519. She led MU with 39.0 points and added 12 assisted blocks. On the season, the middle blocker is now averaging 2.82 kills per set to go with her team-high 1.16 blocks per set. This award marks Rosenthal's second career player of the week award and first in 2017. Marquette has had a player recognized by the conference each week of the season, headlined by two-time Offensive Player of the Week Allie Barber and a Defensive Player of the Week award for Martha Konovodoff.
Double-Doubles
Four different Golden Eagles have recorded at least one double-double this season. Jenna Rosenthal and Anna Haak have each notched one, while Hope Werch has a team-high four and Lauren Speckman has recorded three.
Newcomers Standing Out
Newcomers, including freshmen and Anna Haak (Jr.) and Sandy Mohr (So.) have scored 41 percent of Marquette's point total for the season, having a strong impact on the shape of the Golden Eagles. Hope Werch paves the way with 140.5 points this season and is averaging 2.25 kills per set.
National Mark
Marquette's stats are gaining notice around the country both individually and as a team. Setter Lauren Speckman is fourth in the NCAA with 12.10 assists per set, leading the Golden Eagles to a 13.57 assists per set average, which is 10th nationally. With 4.56 kills per set, Allie Barber leads the BIG?EAST and is 17th in the NCAA.

Marquette and DePaul are tied in their all time series history 29-29, with the Golden Eagles beating the Blue Demons during both matchups of the 2016 season.
Toppling Ranked Opponents
Marquette opened 2017 defeating then-No. 20 Hawaii, 3-2 on its home court. This was the third straight season that the Golden Eagles have opened the year beating a ranked opponent in a true road win. In 2015, MU topped No. 21 Iowa State and in 2016 it was a victory at No. 7 USC.
