Blockton Tabbed as BIG EAST Player of the Week

The senior averaged 21.3 points per game in a 3-0 week
NEW YORK-- Marquette women's basketball senior Allazia Blockton was selected as BIG EAST Player of the Week in the first week of the season, the league office announced on Monday.Â
In a 3-0 week for the 19th-ranked Golden Eagles, Blockton averaged 21.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and .591 shooting in victories over South Dakota State, Montana State and Northern Iowa. She posted back-to-back 20-plus point outings to finish the week, including 23 against Montana State on Friday and 22 against Northern Iowa on Sunday. Her scoring averaged ranked second overall in the BIG EAST last week and tops among players who played three games.
The Golden Eagles will travel to No. 25/24 Miami for the Preseason WNIT semifinals. Tip-off against the Hurricanes is slated for 6 p.m. CT.
