Isabelle Spingola ties a program record with eight three-pointers
MILWAUKEE—The Marquette women's basketball team was locked in on Monday evening as the Golden Eagles cruised past Binghamton, 93-40, improving to 9-2 this season.
Isabelle Spingola turned in another stellar performance as she led the Golden Eagles (9-2) with a season-best 24 points, shooting 8-for-10 from beyond-the-arc, matching a Marquette program record for three-pointers made. Allazia Blockton totaled 20 points, marking the first time this season that two Marquette players have reached 20-or more points.
Erika Davenport and Natisha Hiedeman also tallied double-digits with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Davenport pulled down a game-high nine boards, while Hiedeman dished out seven assists.
Marquette combined to dish out a season-best 25 assists, committing a season-low nine turnovers, while forcing the Bearcats (5-7) into 24 miscues. This was the sixth game this season that the Golden Eagles handed out 20-or more assists, improving the season average to 19.4 per game.
The Golden Eagles led from start-to-finish scoring 29 points off of fast breaks with the bench outscoring the Bearcats' 37-9. Kai Moon led Binghamton with nine points.
Marquette shot 49.3 percent (35-71) from the field with a 51.9 percent mark from long range as the squad combined to hit a program record-tying 14 three-point shots
The Golden Eagles will host No. 2 Notre Dame at the Al on Saturday, Dec. 17 as the final game before Christmas break. Tip-off is slated for 12:30 p.m. CT on FS1.
