It will be the second meeting between the two teams in 12 days.
All-Time Series Dates Back To 1922-23
Marquette's all-time series against Creighton spans nearly the entirety of the program's 100-year history.
The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series 52-32, claiming the most recent matchup 91-83 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Senior Day in 2016-17. Guard Jajuan Johnson led the way with 20 points in his final home game and classmate Katin Reinhardt chipped in 12 points off the bench. Guard Markus Howard finished the contest with 18 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.
Prior to 2013-14, the most recent meeting between the two programs came in the 1998 National Invitation Tournament. MU posted an 80-68 victory in the opening round at the BMO Harris Bradley Center en route to an appearance in the event's quarterfinals.
Marquette has claimed 25 of the last 33 outings, including 10-straight between 1975 and 1984. MU has won its last two trips to Omaha, including a 102-94 victory in 2016-17 against the seventh-ranked Bluejays. Marquette had seven players reach double figures in that matchup.
Howard, Rowsey Nation's Top Long-Distance Duo
Through games of Feb. 15, sophomore Markus Howard (84) and senior Andrew Rowsey (81) have combined for more 3-point field goals (165) than any other duo in the country.
Nevada's Kendall Stephens and Caleb Martin are right behind with 164 treys and the Kansas tandem of Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk and Devonte' Graham own 160 3-pointers. Sophomore Sam Hauser also has 71 of his own and could team up with either Howard or Rowsey in the top-10 listing as well.
Both Howard and Rowsey have a legitimate shot at reaching Steve Novak's single-season record of 121 made long-distance shots in 2005-06. Hauser will also easily finish in the top-10.
News & Notes: Scoring Trio Key To Team Success
- Markus Howard (21.9 ppg.), Andrew Rowsey (19.4 ppg.) and Sam Hauser (14.2 ppg.) combine to produce 67.8 percent (55.5-of-81.8) of Marquette's offensive attack. No other player on the roster has led the team in scoring for a game in 2017-18 and in the team's last outing against St. John's, the trio netted 70-of-78 (89.7 percent) of the squad's overall points.
- Guard Markus Howard is on pace to become the program's 48th 1,000-point scorer as the regular season winds down. He is currently in possession of 957 points in less than two years and would be one of the fastest players in program history to reach the milestone. Multiple MU players have reached 1,000 points in two seasons, led by George Thompson (1966-69). He managed to collect 1,187 points without the benefit of the 3-point line.
- Guard Andrew Rowsey is shooting 41.1 percent from both the field overall (137-of-333) and behind the 3-point line (81-of-197).
- 6-of-11 losses have come to nationally ranked teams (19/21 Purdue, 6/6 Wichita State, 6/5 Xavier, 3/3 Villanova, 8/8 Xavier, and 1/1 Villanova - ranking at time of game). As of Feb. 12, a total of five losses have come to teams (Villanova, Xavier, Purdue) currently ranked in the top-10.
