The senior earned his fifth career conference player of the week honor
On the strength of his second top-10 finish of the season, Marquette senior Oliver Farrell was named BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week by the conference office on Thursday.
The weekly honor is the fifth of Farrell's career, with accolades in each of his collegiate seasons. He also earned BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Month as a freshman in October of 2015.
Farrell carded three sub-par rounds (69-69-71) on the way to a 7-under-par tournament and a third place finish, leading Marquette to its second straight win - a 4-under-par, two stroke victory at the Windon Memorial Classic, hosted by Northwestern. Farrell opened his tournament with 16 straight bogey-free holes, another string of 13 straight in the second round, and a 1-under-par finale to help Marquette secure the team victory. He carded 13 total birdies, fourth-most in the 92-man field, while leading the tournament with a 5-under-par score on Par 4 holes. He has the team's top tournament finish in 15 collegiate starts since 2015.
Farrell and Hunter Eichhorn have accounted for two of the conference's three weekly honors this season.
The Golden Eagles host the 11-team Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills beginning on Sunday morning.
