Joey Hauser Claims Fourth BIG EAST Weekly Honor

Forward named top freshman for third time in four weeks

Marquette University men's basketball player Joey Hauser has been named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday morning.

The accolade is the fourth of the 2018-19 campaign for Hauser, who was also recognized on Dec. 10, Jan. 7 and Jan. 21, and third in the last four weeks.

Hauser averaged 17.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Golden Eagles. He connected on 8-of-12 shots from 3-point range and was 9-of-10 from the foul line. In an 87-82 win at Xavier, Hauser scored a collegiate-high 21 points, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc

Junior guard Markus Howard was also named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll. He averaged 27.0 points and 6.5 assists in a 2-0 week. Scored a game-high 31 points in victory at Xavier (87-82).
Marquette is back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 30 when the team travels to Butler for a 5:30 p.m. CT opening tip on FS1.
