Women's Tennis Heads to ITA Regional

MILWAUKEE- The Marquette women's tennis team travels to East Lansing, Mich. for the six-day ITA Midwest Regional Championship hosted by Michigan State this weekend. This will be the fourth fall tournament for MU. The winners of each main draw (singles and doubles) will receive automatic berths to the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.

The Golden Eagles hope to continue their success this weekend after their last tournament in Evanston, Ill. (Oct. 6). Highlights from that tournament include Natalija Popovic and Giulia Turconi winning their singles matches to come on top in the left side of their brackets.

In addition to the Golden Eagles, Michigan State will host Akron, Bowling Green, Chicago State, Cleveland State, DePaul, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, UIC, Illinois, Michigan, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Toledo, Western Michigan, Wisconsin, Oakland, Youngstown State, and Valparaiso.

The first matches for Popovic, Milica Novakovic, and Fleur Eggink are scheduled to begin Thursday Oct. 17 at 9 a.m. CT at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility. Followed by matches for Isabella Franks, Turconi, and Lesley Foe that are scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. CT. Doubles matches are set to begin Saturday Oct. 19 at 9 a.m. CT.
