Barber and Werch Earn BIG EAST Weekly Honors

Barber is BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for second straight week
NEW YORK-- Marquette University volleyball senior Allie Barber was selected as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, while junior Hope Werch earned a spot on the honor roll, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Barber tallied a league-leading 5.43 kills per set in a 2-0 week for No. 10 Marquette with a 3-1 win at St. John's and a sweep at Seton Hall. Against the Pirates she recorded 20 kills to hit at a .474 clip, which was just one kill shy of her career high in three-set matches. Barber is currently just 52 kills away from breaking Marquette's all-time kills record.
Werch was strong on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court averaging 3.86 kills and 3.86 digs per set tallying double-doubles in both victories.
This is the fourth time this season that Barber has been named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and the third time that Werch has been chosen to the honor roll.
The Golden Eagles return home on Friday, Nov. 1 to host Xavier at 7 p.m. CT before traveling to Butler on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 12 p.m. CT.
