Kaitlyn Lines and Gwen Jones will join the Golden Eagles
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's volleyball team and head coach Ryan Theis announces the signing of transfers Kaitlyn Lines and Gwyn Jones. The duo will be joining the squad this summer and will be ready for action in the 2019 season.
Kaitlyn Lines will be a junior, trekking from Pacific in Stockton, Calif. and the West Coast Conference. Lines is an outside hitter that was outstanding for the Tigers last season, finishing first in the WCC with 437 total kills, and 502 total points. Simultaneously ranking third in kills per set (3.87) and second in points per set (4.4), Lines also wrapped the 2018 campaign as one of just two players to surpass 40 service aces, earning first team All-WCC.
"We're excited to add someone with Kaitlyn's (KJ's) experience to our roster for the fall. She can play all six rotations and has proven that she can score points at a very high level," Theis said. "We can't wait to have her on campus this summer."
Gwyn Jones will be joining the Golden Eagles as a graduate student and hails from Auburn University. The middle blocker and right-side hitter leaves Auburn with 807 total kills, averaging to a 2.45 kills per set. In her freshman campaign, Jones was named to the 2016 SEC All-Freshman Team.
"We were immediately drawn to Gwyn's personality and knew from the minute we spoke that she would be a great fit for our program," Theis said. "Gwyn is an elite slide attacker and has also proven she can score points at the college level. We're really excited to see what she can do in her last year of volleyball."
Marquette will graduate three from the team this year in Anna Haak, Abby Julian and Jenna Rosenthal.
