Oliver Farrell posted a 5-under-par, T-3 finish at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate
For the second time in less than a month, Marquette senior Oliver Farrell has earned BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week honors.
Farrell carded a 5-under-par 211 (67-71-73) to finish tied for third, and lifted MU to a third place finish at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate (March 9-10), hosted by Michigan in Scottsdale, Arizona at the Outlaw Course.
Farrell played 36 holes of sub par golf in Saturday's first and second rounds, scoring a season-low 67 (-5) in the opening round before finishing with a 71 (-1), in a day highlighted by eight birdies and an eagle. He finished second in the 68-player field with 38 pars. The Desert Mountain Intercollegiate featured three top-50 programs (44 Northwestern, 38 Kansas, 41 Marquette), and Farrell (then-No. 79) finished second among the four top-100 players in the event.
He was also named BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week on Feb. 21, following a 2-under-par T-15 finish at the Puerto Rico Classic. The second-lowest scorer in the BIG EAST at 71.43 (-0.57 vs. par), just behind teammate Hunter Eichhorn, Farrell has posted a sub par event score in six of seven starts this season, while 11 of his last 14 rounds have been under par. Farrell and Eichhorn are ranked 64th and 63rd, respectively, in the March 12 Golfstat NCAA Division I Men's Player Rankings.
