Richard and Wagner on BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

The pair posted career highs in Saturday's OT loss to No. 3 Duke
NEW YORK – Seniors Noah Richard and John Wagner of the Marquette University men's lacrosse team earned mention on the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced on Monday afternoon.
The pair led the Golden Eagles to a near upset of No. 3 Duke on Saturday in Bethpage, New York before falling 10-9 in overtime.
Wagner, who sits third in Marquette history in both goals (76) and points (106), scored a career-high five goals in the loss. The senior scored back-to-back goals in both the second and third quarters to rally MU back to ties from a pair of two goal deficits. His final goal of the afternoon early in the fourth tied the game 8-8 before MU eventually went ahead 9-8 on Andrew Romagnoli's score with 10:34 remaining. Wagner entered Saturday with just one career goal against the Blue Devils in three previous meetings.
Richard posted a career-high nine ground balls and tied a career-best with four caused turnovers.The West Chester, Pa., native was part of an MU defensive unit that limited the Blue Devils to their fourth-lowest scoring output of the season. Richard sits fourth in MU history with 153 ground balls and 43 caused turnovers in his career.
The weekly honor is the third of the season for Richard and the first of the year for Wagner. Both were unanimous selections on the 2019 All-BIG EAST Preseason Team.
The Golden Eagles close the regular season against No. 12/14 Denver on Friday, April 26 at Valley Fields. The game is slated for 8 p.m. Central time and will air live on FS1. MU will also host a pregame tailgate, 'Rally in the Valley' at Valley Fields for all students and community members.
