This is the third honor for Blockton and first for Hiedeman
TAMPA, Fla.--Marquette University seniors Allazia Blockton and Natisha Hiedeman have been selected as a 2019 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America honorable mention honorees. This is the third consecutive season that Blockton has made the list and the first for Hiedeman. The complete All-America list was announced at the 2019 WBCA Convention at the Women's Final Four.
Â
Blockton is the only Golden Eagle in program history to earn All-America status in three consecutive seasons. In 2017 Blockton became the first Golden Eagle since 2014 to be selected to the honorable mention All-American squad and, along with Hiedeman, join Katherine Plouffe (2014) and Krystal Ellis (2007) as the only All-Americans in Marquette program history.
Â
Blockton was named BIG EAST Sixth-Woman of the Year and BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second straight season. She was second on the squad averaging 14.3 points per game and leaves Marquette as its all-time leading scorer with 2,204 career points. Blockton is the only player in Marquette history, male or female, to reach the 2,000-point plateau.
Â
Hiedeman caps a stellar senior season wearing Blue and Gold as she was tabbed as unanimous BIG EAST Player of the Year and earned AP All-America honors. She led Marquette with 17.6 points per game and set a senior record for points in a season with 617. Hiedeman leaves Marquette as its all-time leader in three-point field goals made with 301 and is third on the all-time scoring list with 1,913 career points.
Â
Marquette had a program-record 27 victories in the 2018-19 campaign and earned its third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
