Oliver Farrell and Hunter Eichhorn earned recognition for a pair of historic seasons
Marquette's Oliver Farrell and Hunter Eichhorn were selected to the PING All-Midwest Region team for 2018-19 by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Farrell and Eichhorn posted two of the most accomplished seasons in program history, becoming only the second and third players at Marquette to card single season scoring averages below par and rank in the Golfstat NCAA Player Ranking top-100.
In earning BIG EAST player of the year honors, Farrell cemented his legacy as one of Marquette's top players in program history.Ā He became the first MU player to earn four years' worth of all-conference honors, marked the record book with the second-lowest single-season scoring average at 71.36 (-0.36 versus par), and will leave with the program's third-lowest scoring average, all-time.Ā Farrell scored at par or better in 19 of his 33 rounds, with 11 in the 60s, - he entered the NCAA Championships (currently in progress) at No. 56 in the Golfstat NCAA Player Ranking.
Eichhorn notched his second straight season with a sub-72 scoring average, finishing the year at 71.58 (-0.15 versus par) with 20 rounds at par or lower out of 33 total.Ā Eichhorn will enter his junior year holding Marquette's second-lowest career scoring average.Ā After posting MU's best finish in the NCAA Austin Regional (T-18, 216), Eichhorn is also poised to conclude the season ranked in the nation's top-100 players once final rankings are released.
In total, 25 players were selected to the All-Midwest Region team.
This past season marked the second straight year that two Golden Eagles earned GCAA all-region honors - Eichhorn and Matt Murlick were all-region selections in 2017-18.
