Volleyball Reveals 2019 Schedule

The Golden Eagles will host the 2019 BIG EAST Volleyball Tournament
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's volleyball team and head coach Ryan Theis have announced the 2019 schedule, which includes contests against nine different NCAA Tournament teams.
MU opens the season on the road in Provo, Utah for the BYU Tournament, beginning action against BYU on August 30, followed by Boise State and Utah Valley State the next day.
Following these contests, the Golden Eagles travel to Madison to take on in-state rivals on Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m. before returning home for the Golden Eagles home opener, which takes place soon after for an action-packed weekend consisting of a matchup against Syracuse on Sept. 7 and Baylor on Sept.8.
The following week, the Golden Eagles hit the road for the Illinois State Tournament in Bloomington-Normal, Ill. The first match of the tournament is on Sept. 13 against UCF with opening serve set for 4:30 p.m. CT. The next day, MU takes on Illinois in a rematch of the 2018 Sweet 16 matchup, which was a program first for MU. The Fighting Illini advanced to the Final Four in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. The Golden Eagles close the tourney against host squad Illinois State on Sunday, Sept. 15, which marks the second straight season that the two teams will take to the court after the Redbird visited Marquette in 2018.
Upon returning home to the Al McGuire Center, Marquette hosts a season-long six contests in Milwaukee. To kick off the homestand, MU hosts Green Bay on Sept. 20, following a contest between UNI and St. Louis. On Saturday, Sept. 21, the Golden Eagles will take on St. Louis, followed by matchups between first UNI vs. Green Bay and Green Bay vs. St. Louis, ending the day with a final matchup against Northern Iowa.
Following that exciting weekend, Marquette begins BIG EAST conference action, playing host first to Butler on Sept. 25 followed by Seton Hall on Sept. 27 and St. John's on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Marquette will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to take on Xavier on Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. CT and will return home to host Providence on Friday, Oct. 11. The Golden Eagles will have their first meeting with reigning league champion Creighton on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Al.
The Golden Eagles close out October on the road, heading first to Villanova, Pa. to take on Villanova on Oct. 18 and continues their east coast run in the nation's capital against Georgetown on Oct. 19. The next weekend, Marquette travels back east to take on St. John's and Seton Hall on Oct. 25 and 26 respectively.
On Nov. 1, Xavier comes to Milwaukee for a match at 7 p.m., before MU leaves for Indianapolis, Ind. to take on Butler two days later. The following week, Marquette hosts DePaul, then travels to Chicago, for back-to-back contests against DePaul on Nov. 8 and 9, respectively.
Marquette closes the regular season home slate hosting Georgetown (Nov. 15) and Villanova (Nov. 16).
Finishing the regular season on the road, the Golden Eagles travel to Omaha to face their second match against Creighton, before finishing in Providence, R.I. on Nov. 24.
The 2019 BIG EAST Tournament will be hosted by Marquette in Milwaukee with the semifinal matches set for Friday, Nov. 29 and the championship contest on Nov. 30.
