MILWAUKEE – On Friday, June 28, Marquette University women's soccer and women's lacrosse head coaches Markus Roeders and Meredith Black will join a panel discussion "Empowering Women Through Sport," hosted by the Milwaukee Bucks in conjunction with the U.S. Women's World Cup run outside Fiserv Forum.
The panel aims to highlight the tremendous efforts and achievements of those in the Wisconsin sports community who are dedicated to educating, leading and inspiring women and girls in the community.
"The Bucks organization is steadfast in our mission to be a champion for young women every day," Milwaukee Bucks and Fiserv Forum President Peter Feigin said. "Hosting this panel discussion reflects our commitment to affecting meaningful change within the lives of young women in our community, and we are proud to provide this opportunity."
The panel discussion will feature a dynamic group of panelists, including the aforementioned Roeders and Black. They will be joined by Bucks Sideline and Digital Reporter Katie George, Executive Director of Girls on the Run – Southeastern Wisconsin Tina Jones, and Milwaukee Aces owner Bernell Hooker, with Bucks play-by-play announcer Jim Paschke moderating the discussion. There will also be special video shout-outs from former U.S. Women's National Team players.
Using their past and current experiences, the panelists will share their insights into how participation in sports impacts women's lives beyond the court, and will address such questions as, do women in sports lead differently? And, what strategies can women implement to unlock their inner-leader?
The panel begins at 1 p.m. and will be hosted in The Beer Garden at Deer District. Seating is first-come-first-serve, and attendees are advised to arrive early.
