Barber Tabbed as BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

The senior earns her first weekly honor of the season

NEW YORK-- Marquette University senior Ali Barber was selected as BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after her strong performance this weekend at the Redbird Classic in Normal, Illinois, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Barber led the BIG EAST averaging 4.87 kills per set and opened the weekend with a season-best 27 kills against University of Central Florida. The Cedarburg, Wis. native tallied 21 and 25 kills, respectively as MU lost to Illinois and pulled out a 3-2 victory over Illinois State. Barber was second in the BIG EAST in points with 4.93 per set.

Marquette ranks No.8 in this week's AVCA Coaches Poll and is back in action this weekend hosting the Hyatt Regency Marquette Invitational at the Al McGuire Center with Green Bay, St. Louis and Northern Iowa making the trip to Milwaukee.
