Lines is BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

Marquette’s newcomer has a big opening weekend for the Blue and Gold
NEW YORK—Marquette University junior Kaitlyn Lines was selected as BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after helping the Golden Eagles to a perfect 3-0 start, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Lines, a transfer from Pacific, played her first matches for the Golden Eagles as the squad competed in the BYU Nike Invitational. She averaged 3.70 kills per set, hitting a .413 clip through three matches, giving MU 4.60 points. Against then No. 9 BYU, Lines tallied 17 kills and hit .355 with five digs en route to handing the Cougars just their fourth home loss in five years. Lines totaled 13 kills in a sweep over Boise State and seven kills with a .500 hitting percentage against Utah Valley.
Lines was named MVP of the Invitational.
Following the opening weekend, Marquette surged to a program-best No. 11 ranking in the AVCA Coaches Poll. The Golden Eagles travel to No. 4 Wisconsin on Thursday, Sept. 5 with first serve set for 7 p.m. CT on FS1 before hosting Syracuse and No. 17 Baylor at the Al McGuire Center this weekend
