Laura Boyer, a 2008 Marquette graduate and 2016 inductee into the Marquette M Club Hall of Fame, compiled a 41-14-10 record in three seasons as MU's starting goalkeeper while helping the Golden Eagles to back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances in 2005 and 2006, including the program's first Sweet 16 berth in 2006, Boyer finished her career first all-time at MU in goals against average (0.82) and second in save percentage (81.5), career victories (41), shutouts (23) and minutes played (6,050:46). She was MU's first-ever M.A.C. Herman Award candidate in 2006 and was a two-time All-BIG EAST selection. She was also a third team Academic All-American as a senior.
Laura (Boyer) Carley | 2005-07 | Overland Park, Kansas
Current Location:Â I live in Leawood, Kansas with my husband, Jeff, son J.R. (2) and daughter Olivia (6 months)
Employer/Profession:Â I am a managing member of BCWM, a wealth management firm catering to the financial needs of institutions as well as wealthy individuals and families. I am a CFA charter holder and member of our portfolio management team, which means I spend my days analyzing companies and deciding how our clients' portfolios will be invested. We currently manage over a half a billion dollars and have clients in 35 states.
What I remember best about Marquette:Â Hands down my favorite, most vivid memory at Marquette is celebrating a decisive 4-1 victory over Notre Dame, who were defending national champions at the time. Valley Fields was packed to capacity, we were playing under the lights, and our fans rushed the field after the win. That entire 2005 season was a dream. One of the best teams I have ever played on. We just found ways to win.
My memories of Marquette are all so wonderful. Most are of time spent with my best friends and teammates all around campus. Also, the people who supported us from the Al McGuire Center & the "Old Gym", many of whom are still there, had a huge impact on my time at Marquette.
Fun Fact:Â I just became a member of the Marquette Alumni Association National Board, which will provide an excuse for me to get back to campus (COVID-permitting) next April. I cannot wait.
Fun Fact #2: My best friends in life came from Marquette.
Coach Pelaez on Boyer:Â "Laura was a ball of energy, confidence, athleticism and personality during her playing days. She led by example during her time at Marquette as one of the best players in program history."
