Gabriel is MU's all-time leading scorer
The Marquette Athletics Alumni Spotlight is presented by Sargento Cheese, headquartered in Plymouth, Wisconsin. For more information on careers at Sargento, visit careers.sargento.com.
Marquette women's lacrosse players have scattered across the country since graduating college. Our Alumni Spotlight feature will allow us to provide personal and professional updates on the student-athletes who represented the University on the field and continue to be ambassadors today.
Our first alumni spotlight features Grace Gabriel, a 2019 graduate of Marquette and a program-record holder in numerous categories. She's the program's all-time leader in career goals (175), points (199), free position goals (34), shots attempted (433), shots on goal (289) and draw controls (332).
Grace Gabriel | 2016-19 | Lancaster, N.Y.
Location: Lives in Denver, Colorado.
Career Path: I moved out to Denver on a whim in early September and just landed a job with Vail Resorts as an accounts payable clerk. I will be starting in a couple of weeks. Last year, I worked as a member of the North Carolina women's lacrosse coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach. My duties included scouting, team travel, player instruction and other administrative tasks assigned by head coach Jenny Levy.Â
Marquette Memories: Oh wow. I remember many things. Let's see, the awful conditioning sessions (stairs and 300's specifically), spending 95% of my time with my teammates and coaches (too many memories to count), going to the Public Market after practice, living with eight other girls with completely different personalities (I love them all). Nothing will top making it to the Big East tournament for the first time in program history after beating UConn my junior year. Beating Georgetown for the first time in program history on Senior Day was an awesome memory as well.
Fun Fact: I never played on a club team when I was getting recruited.
Â
Coach Black on Gabriel:Â "What always impressed me about Grace, beyond her athleticism, was that she has the mindset of a true champion. Her mental approach to the game was very unique and it's what fed her success on the field. I could sit and talk with Grace all day about what she was thinking and her thoughts pertaining to the game. She will be very successful in her life!
