Mike Bielawski | 2003-08 | West Allis, Wis.
Â
Current Location: My wife Carley, son Noah (almost 3 years old), and daughter Lily (7 months) recently moved to New Berlin. Our family has been in the Milwaukee/Waukesha area since Carley & I graduated from Marquette in 2008. We are thrilled to be in the area, close to family, friends, and of course—Marquette!Â
Employer/Profession: After Marquette, I spent some time in professional golf, playing mini tours and working as a club pro. I also had the good fortune to be the Assistant Golf Coach at Marquette for Steve Bailey from 2010-2016. I loved my time at MU, but upon starting a family wanted to spend less time on the road. I took a job in development with the MACC Fund, an NPO that raises funds for childhood cancer & blood disorders research. I am currently the Director of Development at the MACC Fund and truly love my job—playing a small role in helping very bright minds search for a cure for childhood cancer has been extremely rewarding on many levels.
What I remember best about Marquette: The friendships. I was fortunate to have wonderful teammates, many of which, thanks to the evolution of 'group texts' I communicate with every day! One of my former teammates, Ben Sieg, was the best man in my wedding. It was five (yes, I did a victory lap) years of getting to travel the country competing at some of the best golf facilities in the country with my best buddies. I am so thankful to my parents for allowing me that opportunity, and to the many folks who helped me along the way. I would also be remiss to not mention, I did meet Carley my second semester of my fifth year at Marquette…… everything truly happens for a reason!
Fun Fact: Many folks see the initials GFC on things ranging from my social media to my golf bag. Often people ask why those initials as they are clearly not mine. GFC stands for: God. Family. Country. My grandfather always impressed upon our family that those are the three most important things in life, and in that order. It made an immense impact upon my family and how I try to live my life.Â
