Kirschner Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

Freshman scored first career hat trick on Saturday against Jacksonville
NEW YORK – Freshman midfielder Chris Kirschner of the Marquette University men's lacrosse team was named the BIG EAST Conference Freshman of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday afternoon.
The Flemington, New Jersey native recorded three goals on four shots and picked up one ground ball against Jacksonville. He posted a career- and game-high three goals, with two of them coming in the final six minutes of Saturday's 11-9 loss to the Dolphins.
Kirschner leads Marquette with seven goals on the year, including game winners in each of MU's two victories. He scored the overtime winner in his collegiate debut at Cleveland State on Feb. 1 as well as two goals against Bellarmine on Feb. 8. He and Anthony Orsini (2018) are the only MU players to score at least two goals in their first three collegiate games.
Marquette continues action away on Saturday, Feb. 22 against Detroit Mercy at 11 a.m. Central time at Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac, Michigan.
