Spingola earns a spot on the BIG EAST weekly honor roll
NEW YORK—Marquette University freshman Camryn Taylor has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, while senior Isabelle Spingola has earned a spot on the weekly honor roll, the league office announced on Monday.
This is Taylor's first career weekly award as she helped guide the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 weekend with wins over Xavier and Butler. The rookie averaged 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 60-percent shooting, scoring in double digits in both games. Taylor tallied a 13-point, four-rebound, two-assist showing in Sunday's victory over the Bulldogs, which including a 5-of-7 shooting performance. Through 15 BIG EAST contests she is averaging 10.1 points and .521 shooting.
Spingola earns her third career weekly honor as she was the BIG EAST's second-leading scorer, leading Marquette to a 2-0 home swing with 19.0 points off .464 shooting, including .526 from beyond the arc, along with 4.0 rebounds. Both her scoring totals were game highs, including 21 points against Xavier and 17 points against Butler.
With three regular season games remaining the Golden Eagles own a 20-6 overall record and 11-4 mark in BIG EAST action, sitting in second place in the league standings.
