Three Players Head to U.S. Women's National Team Tryouts

Werch, Vanden Berg, and Konovodoff will represent MU
MILWAUKEE – Three members of the Marquette volleyball team will take part in the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts from Feb. 21-23 at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
Junior Hope Werch and freshman Hannah Vanden Berg will be two of 69 outside hitters competing for a spot, while junior Martha Konovodoff will join 46 other liberos. Also in the hunt are 27 middles, 37 setters, and 24 opposites.
The tryout will consist of 214 athletes from 94 different colleges, all looking for a place on the U.S. Women's National Team or one of 56 spots on the U.S Collegiate National Team.
The tryout process will utilize four sessions with three waves each. Friday's sessions will take place from 3-9 p.m. CT. Saturday's sessions will begin at 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. The tryout will finish up on Sunday with a session of tournament style play starting at 8:30 a.m. 16-18 athletes selected by the U.S. Women's National Team will participate and is expected to end at 10:30 a.m.
