Eichhorn and Leach named PING All-Midwest Region

Leach honored for the first time, Eichhorn earns third recognition
NORMAN, Oklahoma - Marquette University'sĀ Hunter EichhornĀ and Tyler LeachĀ were selected to the PING All-Midwest Region team for 2019-20 by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Eichorn and Leach combined to earn three individual tournament crowns during the fall campaign and recorded two of the eight lowest single-season scoring averages in program history.
Eichhorn notched his third straight season with a sub-72 scoring average, finishing the year at a career-best 70.81 (-0.76 versus par) with 14 rounds at par or lower out of 21.Ā EichhornĀ enters his senior year holding Marquette's lowest career scoring average (71.50), better than 2009 Byron Nelson Award winner Mike Van Sickle's 71.69 strokes. He earned a pair of tournament victories as a junior at the Windon Memorial Classic on Sept. 16-17 and at the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills on Oct. 6-8. The Carney, Michigan native was also a member of the final watch list for the Fred Haskins Award, honoring the year's outstanding college golfer.
Leach earned his first tournament championship on Oct. 14-15 at the Crooked Stick Invitational with a 6-under par 210 and ended his year with a 71.90 stroke scoring average (0.33 versus par). He finished at par-or-better in 12 of the 21 rounds he played as a sophomore and earned the first BIG EAST weekly honor of his career on Oct. 17 for his play at Crooked Stick. The Spring Valley, Wisconsin native earned league rookie of the year honors in 2018-19 in addition to All-BIG EAST Second Team accolades.
In total, 25 players were selected to the All-Midwest Region team.
This season marked the third-straight year that two Golden Eagles earned GCAA all-region honors - Eichhorn andĀ Matt MurlickĀ were all-region selections in 2017-18, while Eichhorn and Oliver Farrell garnered recognition last season..
