Marquette University women's soccer players Katrina Wetherell and Maggie Starker have been selected to a pair of All-BIG EAST teams, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Â
Wetherell was named All-BIG EAST Second Team and Starker earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.
Â
"Happy to see both Katrina and Maggie recognized by the league's coaches," head coach Frank Pelaez said. "Both are extremely skilled and creative players who have a high work rate, competitive edge and constantly put the team first."
Â
The accolade was the second of Wetherell's career. She also earned a spot on the all-league second team at the conclusion of the 2020 season. The Peoria, Arizona, native lead the roster in goals (5) and points (12) this season and netted the game-winning score on three occasions.
Â
Wetherell was also named to the final BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll of the season on Nov. 1 after netting the game winner in a 2-1 victory over DePaul (Oct. 28) on Senior Day.
Â
Starker finished with four goals (tied for second-most on team) in her debut campaign and also added an assist to finish with nine points in 16 appearances. She made five starts and accounted for a pair of game-winning scores.
