Wolf named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

Wolf led MU to a pair of sweeps over DePaul in BIG EAST opening weekend
MILWAUKEE - Marquette University women's volleyball player Taylor Wolf was honored as the BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her play in sweeps of DePaul to open league action.
The graduate student averaged 2.83 kills per set with a .405 hitting percentage and helped the Golden Eagles hit .335 as a squad with 5.17 assists per frame. Wolf also notched 14 digs (2.33/set) and three blocks in six sets against the Blue Demons.
Wolf recorded 13 of her team-high 17 kills on the weekend in Saturday's matinee against DePaul and added 14 assists and 10 digs for her fifth triple-double through eight matches.
The No. 24 Golden Eagles resume BIG EAST play on Friday and Saturday at the Al McGuire Center with action set for 1 p.m. Central time each day. Marquette previously split a weekend series against the Bluejays in Omaha on Feb. 5-6 and most recently swept them, 3-0.
Marquette's athletic teams will wear gold jerseys and/or shoelaces in their contests Feb. 17-21 in support of women's volleyball player Sarah Rose, who is undergoing treatment for Ewing's Sarcoma, a form of bone cancer. All are encouraged to use the hashtag #Gold4Sarah to post their support on social media throughout the week. In addition to Rose, the Golden Eagles will also honor seniors Sandy Mohr, Martha Konovodoff, Gabbi Martinez and Elizabeth Orf at Saturday's match for their careers in Blue & Gold.

Defensive Player of the Week
Ariadni Kathariou, St. John's, Jr., MB (Thessaloniki, Greece)
Junior middle blocker Ariadni Kathariou helped St. John's to a 2-0 week as she registered a match-high of eight blocks in the Red Storm's five-set win against Stony Book on Sunday, and another match high of seven blocks in SJU's sweep of Sacred Heart on Saturday. Additionally, she added seven kills and two digs against the Seawolves and another four kills and a dig against the Pioneers. Through four matches, Kathariou averages 1.31 blocks per set.

Maddie Barber, Villanova, Fr., MB (Cedarburg, Wisconsin)
Villanova rookie Maddie Barber averaged 1.88 kills per set in a 1-1 week for the Wildcats. In Villanova's five-set victory against Coppin State, Barber led VU tied for match high in kills with 14. Her performances against Coppin State also included a .571 attack percentage, which was a BIG EAST match high so far this season. In the three-set loss to No. 19 Pittsburgh, Barber registered a kill, two blocks and two digs.

Avarie Evans-Allen, DePaul, Sr., MB
Evans-Allen tallied a team-best 10 kills on .643 hitting on Friday night at No. 25 Marquette. She added two blocks and three digs.
Emma Nelson, Providence, So., OHÂ
Nelson led the Friars in kills with 18 in a 3-1 win over Bryant on Sunday. Nelson hit .263 and added four blocks.Â
Rachele Rastelli, St. John's, St. John's, Jr., RS
Rastelli recorded 23 kills in St. John's five-set win over Stony Brook on Sunday, a match best among BIG EAST players so far in this early season, hitting at a .568 clip. On Saturday, she registered nine kills while hitting .533 in SJU's sweep of Sacred Heart on Saturday. Â She added 11 digs and eight blocks.
Delaney Hogan, Xavier, Fr., MB
Hogan posted a team and season-best 17 kills in Sunday's five-set loss at Marshall. She also recorded a team-best .438 hitting percentage as she recorded just three attacking errors in 32 attempts. Hogan added two blocks, one dig and one assist as well.
