New gathering limit guidelines begin in advance of Feb. 6 game vs. Creighton
In accordance with new gathering limit guidelines for entertainment venues under City of Milwaukee Health Department Order 4.4, Marquette Athletics is working with the Milwaukee Bucks and Fiserv Forum to gain approval by the Milwaukee Health Department on a plan to allow family members of men's basketball student-athletes and staff to attend games at Fiserv Forum, beginning with the team's outing against Creighton on Saturday, Feb. 6.
Â
The City of Milwaukee Health Department's Order 4.4 continues best practices such as social distancing, mask wearing, and washing hands to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Â
The new guidelines, announced on Tuesday, are effective beginning Friday, Feb. 5. The athletics department will also coordinate efforts with university officials to evaluate family attendance at other home events on campus, as well as the opportunity to welcome a pre-determined amount of fans based on facility capacity and location. The university will follow the guidance of Order 4.4 and seek the necessary approvals of the Milwaukee Health Department.
Â
Each of Marquette's 16 varsity programs will be in action in the upcoming weeks and will be following the COVID guidelines of the NCAA, BIG EAST, and under an approved plan with the Milwaukee Health Department.
Â
The only future men's basketball home game currently remaining on the schedule following Saturday's matchup with Creighton is March 6 against Xavier. The contest with the Musketeers will be National Marquette Day @ Home (university virtual fundraising initiative) and Senior Day, honoring Jamal Cain, Theo John and Koby McEwen.
Â
Marquette Athletics will continue to explore with Fiserv Forum staff, university leaders and city health officials the opportunity the new order presents for potential expanded fan attendance at the game on March 6.
