
Woodward on BIG EAST MLAX Honor Roll

Just 11 games into his collegiate career, the defenseman is close to two MU top-10 lists
NEW YORK – Marquette University redshirt freshman defenseman Mason Woodward was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for men's lacrosse, it was announced on Tuesday.
Woodward picked up seven ground balls and caused four turnovers on Saturday against Providence. The close defenseman has 22 caused turnovers in 11 career games and is close to entering MU's career top-10 list in that category. In his career, he is averaging 4.8 ground balls and 2.0 caused turnovers per game and over five ground balls this season.
The Golden Eagles play their lone non-conference game on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Central time against No. 8 Notre Dame.

Matt Grillo, Providence, Jr., A (Setauket, N.J.)
Providence junior attacker Matt Grillo scored five goals in a 12-8 victory for the Friars over Marquette on Saturday. Grillo's five goals came on 12 shots. He scored the fourth, fifth, eighth, ninth and 12th goals for the Friars. His first goal with 52 seconds left in the first period put the Friars up 4-3 over the Golden Eagles. The Friars never trailed after that. It was the first hat trick of the season for Grillo.

BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week
Justin Coppola, Villanova, So., FOS (Garden City, N.Y.)
Villanova sophomore Justin Coppola went 20-for-22 from faceoffs on Sunday in a 20-8 win against St. John's. The Wildcat also picked up 10 ground balls and added a goal and an assist to his game resume. He scored the seventh goal of the outing at 14:51 I the second period. He also assisted the eventual game winner, 2-1, with 9:51 to play in the first quarter. It was Coppola's first goal and assist of the year. He is 58-for-92 from the faceoff dot (.630). Sunday's game was the first time the Wildcats have scored 20 goals since March 6, 2016.

Toby Burgdorf, Providence, Sr., G (Westfield, N.J.)
Providence senior keeper Toby Burgdorf made 14 saves between the pipes to keep the Friars alive in a 12-8 league win over Marquette. For the game, he also collected four ground balls and marked a .636 save percentage. Five of his saves came in the fourth period.

Tucker Goodelle, Villanova, Fr., A (Mooresville, N.C.)
Villanova rookie Tucker Goodell made his first collegiate start at attack on Sunday against St. John's. The freshman attacker finished with six points as he scored three goals and assisted another three. He scored the fourth, 13th and 15th goals of the day. He assisted Villanova's first goal of the game with 10:02 left in the first period. The assist was his first collegiate point. Sunday's game was the first time the Wildcats have scored 20 goals since March 6, 2016.

Kahn scored twice and assisted five as he accounted for seven goals in Villanova's 20-8 rout of St. John's on Sunday. Kahn leads the team with 18 points on eight goals, 10 assists.
